Building for Mission Update!

DSC03423 edited

We are delighted to announce that we have a Faculty from the Church of England.  This is the official permission to allow us to carry out our building works.

Over the past few weeks various people from St Barnabas have managed to remove the staging, pews and flooring in the church.  The BfM team estimate we’ve saved £10,000 in the process.

The key next steps are to remove the Organ, the large heater and start the demolitions process (which should start early June).

Here are some photos of what we have already done. For more photos please visit our facebook page.

Electoral Roll Update 2013

This year all the churches in the Ely Diocese have to rewrite their Electoral Roll. Everyone on the current Roll needs to fill in a new application form as the previous Roll will cease to be of use.

There are just under 3 weeks left to get your forms in so don’t delay! The last hand in date will be Sunday 7th April.

Forms can be found in church. Please bring to the church office or leave in the labelled box in the Square when you have completed your form.

Lent 2013

flyer idea

Our Lent theme this year is ‘Lord, teach us to pray’ focusing on the Lord’s Prayer.

Every Wednesday during Lent we will be gathering in the Cartwright Room from 7:30-8:00am  to pray for the life of our church. This is open to all so do come and join us.

On Sundays at the 10:30am service, we will be looking at different aspects of the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6) and learning together how we can pray in our everyday lives.

For Holy Week (25th-28th March), we will come together every evening from 7:30-8:00pm, Monday-Wednesday, for a time of reflection and meditation in the build up to Easter. On Maundy Thursday we will have a communion service starting with meditation and worship at 7:30pm

On Good Friday, there will be a family service at 10:30am followed by One Hour at the Cross at midday in the main church.

Then join us on Easter Sunday for the 9am Holy Communion service followed by our 10:30am Family Celebration. Afterwards we will be sharing lunch together as a church family.

Testimony from Mill Road Fair

nathan hayhurst

Mill Road Fair was an incredible day here at St Barnabas. Over 1250 people came through our doors during the day and over 400 stayed to see the choristers from kings.  We had a great Christingle service and loads of children did activities in the childrens tent. 5000 people were given mince pies and many were blessed by the Ceilidh on the street. We had stands in the Square , Sing community choir, Ridley Gospel choir, our own choir, prayer throughout the day and on top of that gave out 1000 hot drinks! And all of it was free!

It really was a special day and was a great lesson for us to see just how easy becoming a missional and loving part of our wider community can be. For a taster of the Mince Pie give away, watch our video below:
